Mom Guilt

Mom Guilt: Clean House

Ok first off if you are one of the mom’s who is able to keep their houses clean and organized, please skip this post.

I wish I could be that mom. My house is a mess. The rare times that my house is not a mess it looks good, but it only lasts so long. I have two kids to thank for that.

Thanks to Pinterest we are led to believe that your house must be clean and organized at all times. Which sets an extremely high standard that as mothers we can’t always make. The responsibility of taking care of tiny humans is exhausting. Making meals, giving baths, kissing owies, taking them to and from school, reading them stories, and then you might have downtime somewhere in between. I would rather spend extra time (that let’s face is usually rare) teaching my girls or just goofing around with them than vacuuming my carpet or washing my windows. Yes my house usually looks like a tornado went through it, but my girls are happy.

It took me a while to come to terms with this: As long as I have small children in my house there will be messes. And that’s OK! There will be a time when my kids are grown and I’ll have more time to clean because they won’t need me as much. So I’m savoring (or trying to) the messes and them needing me. It will be over before I know it.
